Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states:

"Everyone has the right to education.......Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages."

In line with United Nations Millennium Development Goal Two, which is to achieve Universal Primary Education for all by 2015, the project’s first hot topic was to raise awareness and stimulate debate around the following issues:

• Factors affecting school attendance
• Comparisons of pupil teacher ratios in both Ireland and Africa
• Comparisons of expenditure on weapons versus spending on Education.
• Empowerment through literacy.
• Health and Education
